Prologue

Reviews

There are limited cars, ultimate rare classics and then there’s this: a genuine MG B in unique Sebring GT Series II Hardtop configuration with only 2 former owners! Of course, everyone would like to keep such a wonderful, accessible driver’s car as long as possible. The classic MGB has a healthy amount of British flair and patina to encourage the greedy behavior of enthusiast. So far the original part, because after a thorough restoration, the MG B Sebring GT Series II Hardtop is technically even better than it was 60 years ago. We already heard about The American Dream. But how about The English Dream? Now exclusively for sale at Prins.

History
As you would expect from a right hand drive version, the MGB Sebring GT is originally UK delivered. Yet the roadster was never exposed to bad British weather since the car was used for the summer holiday months in the South of France. That’s exactly where the classic roadster was parked all year long. Just until the 2nd and last owner got a grip on the iconic MG. The last 10 of all 35+ years he owned the “B”, he drove a “2.0” version of his car. The complete nuts to bolts restoration motivated him even more to go out and visit the Haspengouw region, or compete in several foreign tour rallies. Thanks to various technical upgrades over the years, this is easily one of the best driving MGBs ever!

Exterior
Speaking of upgrades: a few years ago, after a long time searching, your predecessor finally managed to get the highly desirable and extremely rare Williams and Pritchard Sebring GT Series II Hardtop. Only a few were made, but even less survived the endurance of time. In addition to providing a unique fastback look, the hardtop increases luggage space, making it extra useful for longer trips. The original hardtop of this MGB was also preserved, just like the soft top and tonneau cover. After all, it still is and forever will be a real roadster. Meanwhile, the dark green lacquer matches the British style and class for a 100%, while the black-painted hardtop makes it a two-tone bodywork. The bumpers are chromed, how the original MG B was once intended to be. And luckily for you there’s enough patina to not even consider placing the Sebring GT inside a garage all year long. This is a drivers car!

Interior
The wonderful charming interior also motivates to get behind the wooden steering wheel on a regular basis. Analog instruments, separate gauges + meters and vintage toggle switches on the dashboard set the characteristic atmosphere inside the MGB. In the heart of the 3-spoke steering wheel you’ll find a MG logo as red as the floor, door panels and piping in the black leather seats. Due to the styling of the Sebring GT Series II Hardtop, there’s a lot of space behind the seats, although the real gain is under the trunk lid, which is a lot higher. This is how practical a design modification can be!

Technique
No reason not to love the 1.8 liter 4-cylinder in-line engine of the MGB roadster. But if you want to use it as frequently as possible, it also needs to be as reliable as possible. This is why the former owner equipped the classic with a larger oil cooler, electronic ignition and alternator “negative earth” for extra comfort. A cooling radiator and new set of tires were added two years ago. Last year, the MGB Sebring GT got major service including brake fluid, the suspension rubbers were converted to poly rubbers and new coil springs were installed. Who’s already dreaming of surpassing 35+ years of ownership? You know what to do…

Kind regards,
team Prins.
