Prologue

Ferrari Dino 308 GT4 Rosso Corsa

Enzo Ferrari really knew how to honor someone special. It’s no secret the Ferrari Dino 308 GT4 2+2 Coupe referenced to his deceased son. Our specific version has a history as honorable as of Mr. Ferrari himself, and the mileage is so low, even the fuel receipts could be preserved. No savings in case of the technique though: the engine overhaul in 2021 costed 13,000 euros. The most recent technical service dates from February 2023, so yes, the fire red Dino is all ready for any car or art collector. What kind of a Ferrari owner will you be?

History
Back in 1976 Ferrari won its second consecutive constructor’s title in Formula 1. But the brand also showed being a winner off the track. One of their successful models was the 308 GT4: an 8-cylinder powered 2+2 Coupe sketched by Bertone. It was the first time the famous Italian designer was responsible for a series production model. To be honest, he couldn’t have given his design career a better boost. This particular 4-seater Ferrari was purchased by the owner of an official dealership in Denmark. Because of the huge import costs, his Dino was one of the few unsellable ones. As a result, the car went on sale in Germany in February 1979 and found a new owner. It took the Italian until 2003 to enter the Netherlands for the first time. Renowned Ferrari Dealer Kroymans put it on Dutch plates after one year. All registration documents, German and Dutch service invoices, fuel receipts and the original instruction booklets are included with the Rosso Ferrari. So is a 13,000 euros costing engine overhaul, finalized in May 2021. The last time the Dino went for a technical service update was in February 2023 at Italauto. Now it’s offered by another Ferrari specialist…

Exterior
Pininfarina had to watch how competitor Bertone ran away with the design assignment. Enzo Ferrari was confident that Bertone made the 308 unique like his deceased son. He was right: the Dino GT4 2+2 Coupe is a car unlike any other. The angular shape and razor-sharp aerodynamics are characteristic for Bertone’s creations. Also note the absence of bumpers and flat nose with pop-up headlights plus air vents suggesting that the engine is in the front. Nothing could be further from the truth: Bertone had come up with a daring 2+2 mid-engine configuration. Very Ferrari are the fiery Rosso Corsa bodywork and many exotic details, making the visual impact even bigger.

Interior
The cockpit also has a tradition vibe: the light beige upholstery and headliner in combination with the black dashboard and Rosso floor is almost as iconic as the Prancing Horse on the black leather 3-spoke steering wheel. The overall condition is very pretty, just like the exterior. Nice little detail is the position of the radio, which is placed as far as possible from the driver in the leather tunnel console. After all, the most important sound doesn’t come from the speakers. Once the engine got started, it’s all about the 8-cylinder tune in the back. Speaking of the back: those 2 extra seats are a nice bonus. It’s clear that Enzo wanted to make the ultimate Ferrari family car. Because family was everything to him…

Technique & performance
The most special thing about the Ferrari Dino 308 GT4 is the mid-engine emplacement in combination with rear wheel drive and a 2+2 configuration. The first part of the model name already reveal something about the engine capacity: (almost) 3.0 liter and 8 cylinders. To go sideways, you just have to send all 255 horses to the rear wheels. However, we highly doubt whether that’s your goal when purchasing our Dino. Here’s the thing: this V8 powered collector’s item is a car you have to handle with respect. Please visit Holland and convince us that with you, the classic will definitely fall into the right hands.

Kind regards,
team Prins.
