McLaren MP4-12C
600 horsepower, 600 Nm of torque, a carbon fiber chassis, loads of Formula 1 technology and driving characteristics with an un-English precision: that is the McLaren MP4-12C in a nutshell. With this model, the British F1 racing team put itself back on the sports car radar for private customers, willing to put their driving skills on the public roads. After 14 years of absence, McLaren finally made a comeback on the market as a manufacturer of legal road cars. The rest is history: this stunning MP4-12C was originally Belgian delivered. After 6 years of performing at our southern neighbors, the Briton came into Dutch hands. We sold the car to a loyal Prins customer and private car collector. Today, he gives us the chance to make someone else happy again with the “Silver Arrow” from McLaren. Meantime, the MP4 was always perfectly maintained by official Mclaren dealer Louwman and our own specialists at Prins.
Exterior
The 12C aerodynamics are truly something else. However, in terms of design, the silver supercar doesn’t disappoint either. The McLaren may lack the charisma of an Aston Martin and the viciousness of a Lamborghini, but it’s gorgeous in its own unique way. The bodywork is characterized by a combination of clean lines, graceful curves and an extremely flat designed rooftop. Beautifully shaped air inlets seem to merge into each other in one smooth movement. It makes every intake as attractive as it is functional. Behind the anthracite multi-spoke rims, the typical McLaren touch brightens up by orange brake calipers. The carbon wing mirrors show only a part of the full carbon fiber chassis. Speaking of “wings”: at the back of the spectacular, clean designed MP4-12C there’s a downforce increasing spoiler. The technically advanced rear wing comes up automatically or manually, if you like to show all the potential of the McLaren to the world instantly.
Interior
The McLaren doors open upwards, the same way as they did on the classic F1 model (not to be confused with the single seaters). But just when you have all the spectators’ attention, a challenge lies in front of you: the doorstep is kind of huge, so a little bit of flexibility can do no harm. However, with some practicing and acrobatic arts, you’ll be just fine. As exciting as the entering is, that sober is the layout of the interior. Inside it’s nothing like the exotic appearance of the exterior. Instead, it turns out that the MP4-12C cockpit excels in minimalism. Especially in combination with a black Alcantara finish and leather seat upholstery, it soon becomes clear that efficiency is key. The hardcore supercar isn’t luxury free though, as a navigation system and Meridian audio are included. The orange stitching could refer to the former Dutch owner, but the truth is it’s 100% McLaren.
Technique & performance
Feeling the 12C accelerating is like getting all the support of the racing team. The 3.8 liter V8 at the back has 2 turbos, ready to release 600 hp and 600 Nm of pure power to the rear wheels. With that, the McLaren does a 0-100 km/h sprint within only 3.1 seconds. The supercar has a handling many iconic sports car brands could only dream of. Absolutely superb, just like the amount of grip. We would say someone has put some serious glue on the wheels, but how on earth can it still achieve a top speed of 333 km/h then? Imagine you sticking on the road, pretending to be the new Lando Norris. Or perhaps you are. Or one day will be?
