There’s no such thing as an ordinary Ferrari Testarossa. Yet there’s something extra special about this one. Starting with the unique Giallo Modena lacquer, immaculate overallcondition and bizarre low mileage: only 16,613 in 35 years! For the experts among us: we understand the confusion between the type description and the looks. From the outsidethis is 100% a 512 TR. However, the technique fully matchesthe original Testarossa. The construction date also shows that it’s impossible we’re looking at a 512. It means that the beautiful body adjustments deserve nothing but great respect. Only two Dutch owners have driven the TR-lookalike and took care of the Italian icon with pure passion. Please promise us you will do too.

History
Ferrari is Testarossa. No model in the history of the mythical brand is more famous and characteristic than this one. Yet the Italians thought it was time to release an upgrade exactly 7 years after the introduction of the legend. This is how the facelifted 512 TR came onto the market: exactly the car you think you’re looking at. However, when the classic was delivered new by Ferrari in Rome in 1988, it was long before the introduction of the 512. The last time the Italian dealerprovided technical service was in January 1997, at a mileage of 7,612… Two months later, a Dutch enthusiast and garage owner bought the Giallo Modena Testarossa. Genuine Ferrari fan as the man was, he did everything within his power to give the stunning classic a brand new shape. Making the bodyidentical to its successor was part of his project. Unique, yes, but at Ferrari Club Holland they know the TR lookalike like the back of their hand thanks to the membership of the 1st Dutch owner. In 2021, a private car collector took over the car, offered it at auction recently and the rest is history.

Exterior
Fortunately, the Ferrari designers didn’t have the guts to torn the original characteristics of the Testarossa when the 512 TR was developed. Only the wheels, bumpers, grille, the glass for the rear lights and the units in the front bumper were slightly modified. This means that the pop-up headlights, slats at the rear and “fins” in the doors remained intact. In this specific case, the part between the rear window and the hood has been painted in body color. So you can enjoy the extremely rare Giallo Modena livery to the fullest. As described, the condition is flawless and indistinguishable from new. It’sdifficult to predict the future, but one thing is certain: this Testarossa is the best investment a 512 fan could dream of.

Interior
The story becomes even more special once you discover the interior: the dashboard and steering wheel have remained completely original, while the seats benefited from the 512 upgrade. In this way, a dazzling mix has been created between Testarossa and TR. The further finish of the Ferrari cockpit is also incredibly pretty: the Cuoio leather upholstery suit thebright yellow exterior remarkably well. In addition to the 512 seats, the doors and the bottom of the dashboard have the same leather touch. The Nero tunnel console, headliner, leather steering wheel and leather top of the dashboard provide a brilliant contrast inside the Ferrari classic. Gauges, gear shifter, stitches and switches; it’s all in pristine condition. The integrated Pioneer sound system suggests that there’seven more music in the Italian legend. And in a way, it’s true.

Technique & performance
The naturally aspirated 180° Ferrari V12 (a.k.a. “flat-12”) is a work of engineering art. As mentioned, the 12-cylinder technique is the same as the original. This means sending 390 horsepower to the rear wheels and a 40/60 weight distribution which has proven to be ideal for spectacular Miami Vice scenes. The iconic mid-engine configuration and intense V12 sound are additional reasons to chase the Italian. The 5-speed manual transmission, acceleration from 0-100 km/h within 5.8 seconds and top speed of 290 km/h will undoubtedly give an extra push to visit us quickly. See you soon in the Netherlands.
