Prologue

Alfa Romeo GT 1300 Junior

We have a nice surprise for you: this beautiful, pure Alfa Romeo GT 1300 Junior isn’t quite a 1300. At least, not anymore. The classic has been technically upgraded to a 1750, which also explains the unique low mileage and multiple rally participation. Worth mentioning too are the solid body and the number of owners: after more than half a century, only 2 lucky ones got grip on it! So you no longer have to wonder whether your predecessors were devoted to the Italian… There are plenty of reasons for you to keep the car at least as long, if not forever: the light blue-grey color is super original. Combined with a red leather interior it’s even more rare. In addition, the bodywork is all natural with no signs of fillers at all. Please promise us to act surprised by the power when you take this stunning Alfa GT 1300 – we mean 1750 for a spin?

History
It’s not realistic to call the Alfa Romeo 1750 GTV a rarity compared to the highly popular 1300 Junior, but here’s a fact: the total number of production units of the 1300 is more than twice the number of the 1750. Nevertheless, the overall impact of the Gran Turismo in the 1960s and 70s was overwhelming anyway. It was Bertone’s first major project. After designing the legendary sports coupe, the whole world knew who the Italian was. In 2023 the GT(V) still has lost nothing of its great character and charms. It moves us car fans like no other. In fact, the Alfa is becoming more and popular! Could it perhaps also have something to do with the typical Twin Cam sound and pure driving experience…?

Exterior
By Alfa Romeo standards, the design of the GT series was (and is) remarkably angular, especially with predecessor Giulietta in mind. The powerful proportions, straight-cut front and robust-looking rear make this Alfa classic a very recognizable, cool machine. The model evolved several times during the production period from 1963 to 1977. This particular version is extra pure thanks to the single round headlight units and a single chrome bar connecting them to each other. In addition, the chrome bumpers have been dropped to emphasize the no-nonsense (rally) character of the Alfa GT Junior. Large Quadrifoglio stickers on the front screens evoke nothing but nostalgic feelings. This is what a pure driver’s car should look like! The unique, light blue-grey lacquer transforms the 1300 to 1750 upgraded GT Veloce into an absolute stunning appearance. With this classic eye-catcher you make a genuine design statement! And all this without compromising on quality: the bodywork is 100% hard and shows no traces of filler. None. In short, an Italian beauty at its best: pure nature.

Interior
The leather on board the Alfa Romeo GT is almost as red as the fire extinguisher right in front of the passenger seat. Complaints about the model having a large blind spot would be new to us, although we cannot rule them out given the many window stickers at the back. Instead of making a problem out of it you could also sign up for one of the Prins Tours. And add your own rally sticker to the collection. With a wonderful driving machine like this, you need a steering wheel that begs to be grabbed. In this special case it has a wooden finish, just like the dashboard. Pretty chic for a rally icon like the Alfa GT(V)… The Philips audio system also feels luxurious, but who wants to listen to that when you have a 1750 engine in front?

Technique & performance
The 4-cylinder engine with Twin Cam technology sounds just as original as Alfa Romeo’s decision to place the exhaust off-center. As if the classic wants to make clear it does things just a little different than others. The upgrade from 90 to 120 hp has done our rear-wheel drive 1300 Junior more than good: what a feeling. What an experience! The 1750 engine runs extremely smooth. And of course it’s a little bit faster. Who’s ready to earn some extra stickers after driven the Prins Tour?

Kind regards,
Prins Classics.
