Prologue

Alfa Romeo 75 1.8 IE Polizia

Normally petrolheads do anything to don’t get caught. However, there’s an exception: when this original Italian Alfa 75 1.8 IE Polizia turns up in the rearview mirror, all you hope is that you won’t lose that tail! We bought the classic police car together with an Alfa Romeo 75 3.0 V6 EVO pack from a Dutch car collector. He brought the Polizia Stradale to the Netherlands back in 2017 and added it to his impressive collection. What makes this specific car even more desirable is the fact that all police features are intact and still working. Including the siren, flashing light and even the communication system inside the Alfa Romeo 75 1.8 IE Polizia is still there! Who dreams of being chased by the cops already?

History
In other countries we don’t turn our heads when seeing a police car driving on the streets. However, in Italy everything is different. Because Italians drive Alfa Romeos! As a result, they are the only cops who deserve an applause even before they caught any bandits. Of course this Alfa 75 Polizia doesn’t stop us for driving too fast. Every fan hopes that he or she will be pulled over! Without the police equipment the characteristic sports sedan is a desirable macchina, but this is really something else. The light blue color with the white striping is almost as legendary as the car itself. There are Lamborghinis driving around that are configured exactly the same! However, the history with Alfa Romeo is a lot longer: the Giulietta, Alfetta, 155, 156, 159, as well as both the classic and modern Alfa Giulia models have been used massively by the Italian police.

Exterior
The livery of the Polizia Stradale is very recognizable. Our Alfa Romeo 75 1.8 IE is mostly blue, except for the grille, stripes and the lowest part of the “Polizia” text on the sides. A combination that has been used for many years. In case of the current Giulia, the "Polizia" print is fully white, but the link to the classics is clear enough to get nostalgic feelings with this car as well. However, not as much as with our beautiful Alfa 75! The single round flashing light in the middle of the roof is quite small by today’s standards, but not less iconic. It’s the perfect car to visit events, crazy bachelor parties or another garage full of legends!

Interior
As intimidating as the Polizia layout of the Alfa 75 1.8 IE might be, that confirming is the condition of the blue leather interior. The cops have been using the classic exactly where it was built for: making the Italian streets safer. The original communication system is completely intact, which makes it all look 100% real. Because it is real! There was no messing around with this proper Alfa Romeo 75. For how many times would it have been in hot pursuit?

Technique
In 1990, Alfa made the switch from the old-school carburetor technique to the multipoint injection system. Now you know what the addition “IE” stands for in the type designation. In terms of performance, the 1.8 liter 4-cylinder didn’t necessarily improve, but it also didn’t prevent the Polizia Stradale from making themselves useful. Always wanted to experience how a classic police car drives? There’s a unique opportunity standing at Prins…

Kind regards,
