There’s nothing more Italian than this extraordinary Alfa Romeo GTV 1750, which drove its kilometers in the country where it was built until 2002. History
Our Alfa Romeo GTV 1750 comes straight from a wonderful collection. And it’s not the first time it suits in a place among other beauties. The Italian owner, who moved to the Netherlands 20 years ago and took his GTV with him, also owned several classics. However, to use his own words, this Alfa was his favorite. We can imagine that.. It took until 2018 before he offered his masterpiece for sale at Prins. The current owner appreciates the GT Veloce just as much. Enough to have the stylish coupe fully serviced in December 2021: tires, front + rear shock absorbers and even the spark plugs were replaced. The carbs have also been overhauled, so that the 1750 Twin Cam powered classic sends the nostalgic Alfa Romeo fire directly to the road.
Exterior
If there’s one model that symbolizes pure Alfa character, it’s the original GTV. This 1750 version has the same sturdy contours as any other version. The right-angled front, double round headlights and super stylish coupe line are typical Bertone design features, drawn by Giorgetto Giugiaro. This isn’t just an Alfa Romeo. This is an icon. In silver, the timeless bodywork comes perfectly into its own. The color itself isn’t too vulnerable and the brilliance is still completely intact. You’ll never get bored of something so beautiful! Interior
Ready for the next step? The classic Alfa GTV 1750 cockpit is covered with very tasty brown leather, also on the door panels and amazing designed seats. The 3-spoke wooden steering wheel from Hellebore is a feast for the eyes and seems like a perfect fit for the wood finish on the dashboard and center / tunnel console. Characteristic rocker switches and an instrument panel consisting only a duo of analog counters, make the classic GTV look and feel more than complete. What a wonderful (time) machine!
Technique & performance
Behind all these Italian charms lies beautiful technology: the 1779 cc 4-cylinder Twin Cam engine is full of energy and puts out 12 hp more than the “standard” GT Veloce version. The 1750 version kicks it up to 120 hp, sending the power only to the rear wheels of course, because the Alfa Romeo GTV is a pure driver’s car. Somehow, in an extremely smooth way, the car provides an immersive driving experience.
