Prologue

Ferrari 575M Maranello F1 Rosso Corsa

How one character can make a huge difference. At Ferrari, “M” stands for Modificata. Written with a capital letter, because especially in case of the 575M Maranello, the Italians have brilliantly evolved their V12-powered masterpiece. Our classic has Spanish roots and comes straight away from a Dutch car collector. The Ferrari is in beautiful shape, has been excellently maintained and has driven relatively little. One is the result of the other… The combination Rosso Corsa with Beige leather is as traditional as it could be in the world of Ferrari. And that’s for a reason! Now exclusively available at Prins.

History
This stunning Italian started his career in Spain. After 12 years of playing with the sun, the time had come to give Germany some more warmth and color. Until a Dutch car collector tracked down the Ferrari 575M Maranello in 2019 and send it to the Netherlands. Enthusiasts as we are, we’re still grateful for that! The successor of the – then 6 year old – 550 Maranello in 2002, is enjoyable in all ways. The 575M was in production until 2006, when it was replaced by the 599 GTB Fiorano. This ended the iconic Maranello series after 10 years of loyal duty. A name that is very consciously linked to the location of the Ferrari factory. There’s no greater honor to a work of art like the 550/575M!

Exterior
You can recognize a modified Ferrari 550 by several subtle interventions, such as the 3 round lamps per headlight unit, excluding the mini ones in the top corner. In contrast to the pre-facelift model, the background of the 575M headlights is completely painted in body color. The shape of the glassware or covers remained identical. The adjusted lighting layout had a direct influence on the grille: the fog lights were no longer integrated, creating more space for an opening with horizontal and vertical bars. Remarkably, the design has been kept simpler, and the same goes for the cooling slots next to it. Speaking of cooling: the air intake in the hood and double vents behind the front wheels were taken directly from the original Maranello. Doors, side skirts, mirrors, roofline; it’s no less smooth on the 575M than on the 550. Also note the single air-duct behind the door, which is only on the left. It’s all about the details… Seen from the side, the Ferrari Modificata completley relies on its slightly modified wheel design, and is recognizable at the rear by the 575M badge. The bright red Rosso Corsa lacquer is a real stunner. The Ferrari passion is as pure as possible!

Interior
Unlike many other brands, Ferrari’s traditional composition is as distinctly stylish as the cars themselves. On top of that, the cockpit of our 2-seater 575M Maranello is in a gorgeous condition. The light leather has found its way to the beautiful seats, the entire door panels, the center/tunnel console and the majority of the dashboard. A small part of the dashboard, the classic instrument panel and steering wheel stand out beautifully thanks to a Nero leather finish. The black A-pillars also contrast sublimely with the Beige headliner. The floor + carpets have a Castoro finish. It doesn’t get much more tasteful than this!

Technique & performance
The way Ferrari explains the technique with their model designation often changes. However, in case of the 575M Maranello, it’s quite obvious: the naturally aspirated 12-cylinder in the front grew in capacity from 5.5 to 5.75 liters. The power increased from 486 to 515 hp. And the torque (589 compared to 568 Nm) improved too. This makes the Modificata able to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h within 4.3 seconds. The top speed also benefits from the engine upgrade and has been stretched to a magical 325 km/h. Linked to a semi-automatic F1 transmission including 6 gears, it actually feel like you’re in a racing car. One with the looks of a timeless GT…

Kind regards,
team Prins.
