Prologue

Back to the 80s!

Ferrari 348 TB

Back to the 80s! The fact that this beautiful, low mileage (!) Ferrari 348 TB was produced in the early 90s doesn’t change the fact that we’re exposed to nostalgic 80s feelings. The Rosso Corsa classic has so much character and is spotless at the same time. It’s not a car. It’s a magnificent designed time machine, delivered new by Ferrari Dealer Francorchamps in Brussels. All original books are present and of course we put just as much love into the technique as the engineers did back in the days in Maranello. At Prins, passion and perfection has no boundaries!

History
Our Ferrari 348 TB started its career with a link to one of the world’s most famous Formula 1 tracks: Francorchamps Motors Brussels S.A. newly delivered the road-legal race car. Nevertheless, we suspect that the iconic supercar hasn’t touched a curbstone or seen a chicane in 33 years. The condition is sublime and does justice to the unique low mileage. Of course, there’s a story behind it: the 348 TB was part of a large French Ferrari collection for a long time. With some many cars, it was almost impossible to drive it on a regular basis. How different this was at the beginning of its career: the service history tells us that Ferrari GTM S.A. (also located in Belgium) maintained the V8 technique after one year at a mileage of 9,883. In 2017, Ferrari Officina Valenti BVBA (again Belgium) did the same with 23,765 km of engine experience. About 7 years later, nothing has really changed in the mileage. However, that doesn’t stop our specialists from giving the classic Prancing Horse a fresh maintenance before delivery.

Exterior
Characterizing for the design of the Ferrari 348 TB are some typical Testarossa features: straight lines, striking radiator intakes on the sides and ‘slats’ covering the rear light units make this model easy to distinguish from its much rounder F355 successor. The pop-up headlights of the Trasversale Berlinetta are also very 80s. And the Rosso Corsa lacquer? It has lost none of its fire! The red gem is truly immaculate and that’s one of the reasons why its appearance is incredibly clean. Unlike many modern cars, this exotic doesn’t stand out because of exuberant design features. Instead, the sleek shape and unmistakable silhouette make it really something else. We can’t take our eyes of the legendary Pininfarina design! This is pure art on wheels. Also note the size of the 4 exhaust tailpipes: quite modest by modern standards. However, they offer a sound that’s larger than life…

Interior
The Nero leather interior matches the bodywork perfectly in terms of condition and design. The seat position is low, the exterior mirrors are highly mounted and the black instruments have a fiery inscription. Unbelievable that this icon is already 33 years old! The urge to firmly turn the Nero leather steering wheel and move the beautiful aluminum gear shift through the classically milled gear wings, is greater than ever. No air conditioning, no power steering, no driver assistance systems. This is a sports car cockpit at its purest!

Technique & performance
The Italian 2-seater almost touches the asphalt below, which says a lot about the balance and stability. It’s the old-school way to responsibly release 300 horses on the rear axle. Although, you still have to be alert, because an electronic safety net is nowhere near. Anyone who has made the heavy clutch and transversely mounted (Trasversale) 5-speed gearbox his / her own, should be able to make the atmospheric Ferrari V8 accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h within 5.6 seconds. The top speed of the 3.4 liter 8-cylinder is 275 km/h. Quite impressive for 90s supercar. However, your senses will scream for more just as loudly as the power unit in the back sounds, because the overall driving experience is so incredibly addictive! Isn’t that exactly the reason why you fall head over heels for this Ferrari classic?

Kind regards,
team Prins.
