We’re proud to offer this Rosso Alfa gem for sale: a perfectly maintained, extraordinary Alfa Romeo Spider 2.0 Type 4 in truly sublime condition! The history is fully complete, and so is the equipment: a Nardi steering wheel, dust cover and soft-top cover are all present. Dutch Alfa specialist Jan Sleutel brought the Italian beauty to the Netherlands in 2004. Since then, the Spider has had only one single owner. The question is: will you be the next one?
History
Type 4, as the name suggests, is series 4 of the original Alfa Spider. Based on the 1966 Duetto, the open Romeo is full of character. The former owner was able to maximize its potential for no less than 18 years. In return, he took care of the classic like only a genuine fan can. The Type 4 remained in fantastic shape, visually and technically, partly thanks to perfect service and a special Dinitrol treatment that helps prevent the eye-catching bodywork from being affected by corrosion. A bodywork that was built in March 1992, delivered to a German dealer in December and came into the hands of its 1st owner in 1993. At the time that Alfa Romeo specialist Jan Sleutel brought the Spider to the Netherlands in 2004, the classic had only driven 41,000 km. Now that this number has about doubled, it’s even more clear how much care and attention has gone into the 2-seater. Just wow!
Exterior
The design of the old school Alfa Romeo Spider has evolved or ‘matured’ beautifully over the years. It’s amazing how the Italians have managed to maintain a classic design in a rapidly changing world. Via the Duetto (series 1), Coda Tronca (series 2), Aerodinamica (series 3) and finally Type 4, the original Spider was no less than 27 years in production without having to adapt too much. This last series is perhaps the most modified of them all, referring to the new rear light units and bumpers painted in the same color as the rest of the bodywork: in this specific case in Rosso Alfa, like a proper sports car should be. Meanwhile, we’re so happy that the Italians stuck to the sleek shape and round headlight units. No car from this era has as much character as the Alfa Romeo Spider Type 4!
Interior
The Nero leather interior of our classic is just as neat as the exterior. But it’s more than that. There’s some extra character added to it: a wooden Nardi steering wheel, floor carpets with Rosso Alfa logos and piping in the same bright red shade, as well as a dust cover and a soft-top cover for the black linen roof are included. Even the radio/cassette player dates from the time when Alfa Romeo still produced the Type 4. This isn’t a car. This is a real time machine!
Technique & performance
The Quadrifoglio Verde badges on the front screens reveal that the former owner had a sporty Alfa heart. But the heart of the Spider itself is also a tiny bit sportier thanks to the efforts of Squadra Tuning: the specialists provided our classic with a chip that makes the 2.0 liter Twin Spark 4-cylinder engine with multi-point injection (which its predecessors didn’t have) run smoother and respond even better to the throttle. A very nice adjustment! The Type 4 sends 126 PS to the rear wheels. And that’s all you need to get that smile on your face after taking over the Nardi wheel. So what are you waiting for…?
Kind regards,
team Prins
