Alfa Romeo Montreal

Not the kind of green car we had in mind, but this classic Alfa Romeo Montreal in Verde Montreal just nails it when it comes to appearance, character and driving experience. The technique is as good as new and at the same time full of classic V8 features, just like a true Romeo should be. Pistons, crankshaft, distribution, valves; you’ll read about it in the many invoices that are included. Nevertheless, you’ll find enough healthy patina on our original Italian delivered Alfa Montreal. Charming, isn’t it?

History
This 70s car belongs to the very 1st series of the legendary Montreal and was created by the renowned Italian designer Marcello Gandini, who was employed by the Bertone design agency at the time. Gandini is known for his eccentric creations, including the Maserati Khamsin, Lamborghini Countach and Lancia Stratos. Building unique machines was his specialty. A few years ago, a loyal Prins customer en local Alfa addict discovered the Alfa Romeo Montreal in the country of its origin. Technically, the classic was given lots of love, but your predecessor never tried to polish away the fact that the sports coupe has been in this world for over half a century now.

Exterior
It means that the stunning beautiful Verde Montreal paintwork isn’t new anymore. No matter how gorgeous, it cannot avoid showing some imperfections here and there. So no, we’re not covering up any of its pure character. Besides, a little patina won’t hurt. The traditional long bonnet and striking coupe roofline breath very much classic Alfa. Cooling slots directly behind the doors and a black air duct in the imposing front provide a nice contrast. The lower spoiler gives the ferocious front an even fiercer look. Just not frightening enough to leave it in the garage… The rims have been stripped and sprayed and got a set of new wheel nuts, so they look nice and fresh again!

Interior
Speaking of fresh: another reason to get under the Verde Montreal skin of this extraordinary Alfa is the interior, including new carpets connecting perfectly with the rest of the stylish cockpit. As far as we are concerned, the combination of beige upholstery with a black rear deck plus dashboard and a classic wooden steering wheel is brilliantly chosen. You want to take a seat right away, right? The twin tubes behind the wheel stare at you as if time has stood still. Give the black gear shift (with beige cover) a hand and go for it! On the way, there isn’t much time to admire fine details such as the black toggle switches and vintage car audio from Caliber. Which means you have your hands full with old school V8 machinery!

Technique
Having 2.593 cc of engine capacity, Alfa Romeo’s 8-cylinder is capable of doing great things. Like sending 200 horses towards the rear axle… The overhauled power unit includes new pistons, connecting rod and crankshaft bearings, cylinder liners, valves (intake plus exhaust), timing chains and tensioners. Also taken care of: the water pump with all hoses, the complete spark plug cable set plus spark plugs, the door rubbers and the exhaust including suspension points. The underside has been refreshed through ice blasting. The Spica injection system has also been revised. The clutch cylinder (transmitter) and clutch taker have been renewed, just like the clutch disc and pressure group. Finally, the entire braking system has been overhauled: calipers, brake pads, master cylinder, brake booster, lines; all new. In short, for those who planned to shine with the Alfa Romeo Montreal in terms of performance: this is your chance!
