Prologue

Toch?

Alfa Romeo GTV 2000

‘Original’ can mean two things: it’s either completely how the builders intended it to be, or it’s so different from anything else that you’ve never seen it before. Our stunning beautiful Alfa Romeo 2000 GTV is both. A fully intact and unique car with many exclusive details created by Prins. Including the seats, livery, wheels and (the lack of) bumpers. Does the Rosso Alfa blood spontaneously start bubbling in your veins and does this stunning Alfa GTV give you that final push to breathe new life into your racing or rally aspirations? Seize this moment of happiness to shine with the large Quadrifiglio Verde stickers as only a beautiful creation from Bertone can. An opportunity that the classic Alfa enthusiast really doesn’t want to miss. Right?

History
When the talented Italian designer Giorgetto Giugiaro was recruited by the legendary design agency Bertone, he got the Alfa Romeo 105/115 Coupé as his first major project. A masterstroke, as the success of this Alfa classic it turned out to be inimitable. Production started in 1963, but the top version based on the GT waited until 1971 to be presented. Its name: the GT Veloce, a.k.a “GTV” with almost 2,000 cc engine capacity. The upgraded 4-cylinder Twin Spark power unit is one of the most – if not the most popular version of the highly desirable sports coupe. Our classic dates from 1974 and is exactly half a century after its first drive more appreciated than ever… And perhaps also more beautiful?

Exterior
Only a few cars are as characterful and sporty as the ‘good old’ 2000 GTV. And yet, enthusiasts as we are at Prins, we were convinced that it could be done even better. And so the Rosso Alfa GT Veloce underwent a number of modifications. Including an original racing livery with striping on the sides and racing stickers on the headlights. Two of the four units have yellow glass, making it truly old school. The side stripes were too wide to flow seamlessly across the front screens, so we looked for a reason to interrupt them. No better reason to stop them than adding big QV logos. How’s that for your nostalgic memories! Overall our GTV is in good condition, including the fiery red lacquer and black painted grille + Scudetto. The newly mounted wheels and typical positioned sports exhaust are among the many characteristics of the iconic GT models. In terms of shine, the exhaust would’ve matched the chrome bumpers perfectly. However, no trace of them. Just like the original race and rally versions don’t have them either…

Interior
‘Less’ is clearly ‘more’ in case of this classic GT Veloce 2000. We’ve added a lot, but the Alfa hasn’t gained any weight after our efforts. No bumpers, no headrests on the Nero leather bucket seats… We call it “the art of omission”. Speaking of art: those seats would match the furniture in your living room very much, we guess. So why not park it into your own house or man cave like a ‘living’ sculpture? The wooden steering wheel, dashboard and center/tunnel console are made to be admired all day long as well. What a design. What a character!

Technique
The rear axle has 132 loud horses to put on the black stuff: that’s is more than in any other Alfa Romeo GT from that generation. Of course the performance is there too. But that’s not the most important thing: the sound and overall experience of the 2.0 liter Twin Spark engine is on a completely different level when we compare it with modern sports coupes. This is why the famous GTV 2000 has so many loyal Alfa fans! And we haven’t even brought up the fabulous handling yet… With an Alfa Romeo GT Veloce you don’t steer, you place it into corners. Try it yourself during an exclusive test drive at Prins.

Kind regards,
team Prins.
