An Alfa Classic for true connoisseurs: this stunning Alfetta GT 1800 from the early series is a rare gem. The chances of encountering another one like it are slim, especially in such a beautiful, authentic condition as this example. Additionally, its history makes it a top-tier collector’s item: originally delivered in Italy and directly sourced from a Belgian Alfa Romeo collection. The former owner is a passionate Alfista, which explains the meticulous maintenance it has received, along with the fact that it was still driven regularly. Not only did this enhance the owner’s enjoyment, but it also helped keep the classic Alfetta GT in top condition. And the color combination is super original! Exclusively available at Prins.
The history of the Alfetta began in 1972, when Alfa Romeo introduced the successor to the Berlina: a four-door sports sedan closely related to the Giulia of the time. Two years later, the Alfetta lineup was expanded with a new body variant that took strong inspiration from fastback coupés. Dubbed the GT 1800, it turned out to be a true Gran Turismo—sporty without being spartan, making it ideal for longer daily drives. The example you see here dates back to 1976, originally registered in Italy, and has been excellently preserved ever since. In the hands of an enthusiastic Belgian Alfa aficionado and avid car collector, the GT has been perfectly maintained in recent years. A closer inspection beyond the sleek bodywork reveals meticulous attention to detail—even the smallest corners and seams under the hood leave no doubt about the passion and love poured into this car.
The Alfa Romeo Alfetta GT 1.8 is a creation of legendary design master Giugiaro. He penned the early 1800 model, identifiable by the model name badge positioned at the top right of the trunk lid and the fuel cap located on the left rear. A unique configuration! The aubergine-colored Prugna paint is in excellent condition, making the Alfa GT even rarer. Naturally, the characteristic Alfetta silhouette is intact, with its coupe roofline that begins to subtly slope only above the rear axle and ends sharply with a truncated rear. Giugiaro’s design also allowed for strikingly large glass surfaces along the sides. The Alfetta GT boasts a C-pillar design like no other! Meanwhile, the bold front end is unmistakable with its distinctive layout, black grille flanking the chrome Scudetto, and dual round headlights on each side. The fog lights below the chrome bumper evoke nostalgic rally feelings. A leisurely Sunday drive would certainly be enjoyable, but we’d personally keep this gorgeous classic away from rougher roads—it’s simply too beautiful for that.
The black leather interior is in immaculate condition. Alfa Romeo’s choice to relocate many analog instruments to the center of the dashboard is delightfully unconventional. At the same time, it reveals the sporty soul of the GT 1800, as the driver’s focus remains primarily on the tachometer. The relatively flat windshield, combined with the generous side glass, enhances the feeling of being in a time capsule. The Alfetta has a remarkably futuristic design! Then there’s the delightful wooden steering wheel with three large spokes, reminding you that you are indeed at the helm of a true Alfa classic. Don’t miss the details, such as the chrome trim along the top of the door panels and the green Quadrifoglio sticker on the left side of the dashboard. This is what elegant sportiness looks like!
The Alfetta’s technology was equally advanced for its time. The production of the new Alfa Romeo included the introduction of a rear-axle-mounted transaxle gearbox and final drive. This impressive engineering feat allowed for an almost perfect 50/50 weight distribution. Now you know where the excellent handling and balance of this rear-wheel-drive GT come from! Agility and responsiveness are most evident in corners, but it’s the 122 hp 1,779 cc 4-cylinder Twin Cam engine that ensures impressive straight-line performance. Even in 2025, the Alfa Romeo Alfetta GT 1.8 remains a quick and stylish car with an equally dynamic drivetrain. No wonder the previous owner couldn’t get enough of it!
Kind regards,
