Read moreOnly 2,000 units of this extremely rare Alfa-90 Super 2.0 6V Iniezione were built. And only one lucky man or woman can get the hands on our stunning 86 collector’s item. The classic on your screen is a dream for real Alfisti: original, pure and in great shape. It also has a V6 engine, electric windows, a Pioneer radio-/cassette player and advanced CEM technology. Never thought that an ‘ordinary’ berlina could be this special? You’re not the only one…
History
Based on the Alfetta chassis, the Alfa Romeo 90 was introduced in 1984. The executive sedan had to fill the gap between the Alfa 6 and Nuova Giulietta and was the predecessor of the Alfa 164. After about 4 years, almost 60,000 Alfa 90s have been produced. However, only 2,000 of them had a 2.0 6V engine. “Iniezione” stands for injection and refers to the advanced Electronic Engine Control Managementtechnology, powered by Alfa Romeo. So anyone who’s looking for a classic 6-cylinder Alfa Romeo: now is the time to strike!
Exterior
On paper, the Alfa 90 was an elegant sports sedan. The design is straightforward, but the details are exciting. For example, note the ‘extended’ C-pillars for a better rear airflow; a featurethat has been applied by countless car manufacturers in the modern era to give the efficiency of their models an extra boost. The red light bar connecting the rear units, is something we see on today’s cars quite often too. However, the position below the license plate instead of above it is still very unique. Also look at the streamlined exterior mirrors, including Alfa Romeo inscription. No need for the iconic grille to make a comeback: fortunately it never left. A timeless car requires a timeless lacquer. The grey paintwork isn’t only refined, it’salso incredibly sleek. And the overall bodywork is in extraordinary shape!
Interior
The interior of the Alfa Romeo 90 2.0 V6 Iniezione is at least as neat as the exterior. It’s like time has stood still after taking in the grey/brown upholstery. The design is just as sharp as the exterior of the Alfa-90. Steering wheel, gear lever, door handles, seats, control units; everything is in optimal condition. Truly unique for a 37 year old classic. Let alone fora 37 year old Alfa 90! The electric windows were of course very luxurious at the time. And the Pioneer radio/cassette player also works well in the berlina. Taking a seat is a pleasure. Driving it is pure magic!
Technique
Once you’re on your way, the lively character of the 2.0 liter V6 with 6 valves and 132 hp really comes into its own. The engine is based on the larger 2.5 V6, which is immediately noticeable in its potential. Sure, it’s not a sports car, but the Alfa 90 6V runs extremely smooth. Enthusiasts will be extra happy about the CEM technique: Alfa’s “state-of-the-art”Electronic Engine Control Management system in the early 80s. A combination of rear-wheel drive and a fine 5-speed manual gearbox, makes the proper business sedan remarkably agile in terms of driving experience. In 2024, history continues to repeat itself. And that perhaps makes the original even more desirable… Will we see you in Holland soon?
Kind regards,
team Prins.
