History
In 1990, our Alfa Romeo 75 3.0 started its career in the Netherlands with a 1.8 engine. This changed about 15 years ago, when the classic came into the hands of an Alfa fanatic and passionate Ferrari mechanic. He saw the potential and decided to upgrade the sports sedan to a 3.0 liter V6 engine… Including carbs! The looks couldn’t stay behind of course, resulting in an EVO kit based on the iconic Alfa 75 Turbo Evoluzione: a homologation model of which only 500 were made. Looks great? That’s exactly how the Supersprint exhaust sounds like!
Exterior
The fiery red paint on our Alfa Romeo 75 V6 is in excellent condition and the angular 80s bodywork still knows how to impress. Nevertheless, it’s the spoiler kit that makes it really special! Interesting fact: the original homologation model of the Alfa 75 didn’t have a V6, but a 1.8 Turbo engine under the bonnet. The whole idea of the Evoluzione was born because of the Group A homologation rules. In order to participate in racing, Alfa Romeo had to build an edition of at least 500 cars. The (wide)body kit includes bigger bumpers and side skirts, but also the wheel arches went a little wider. The characteristic placed Supersprint exhaust has an oval shaped end piece. Together with the multi-spoke design wheels and brutal EVO package, this Alfa 75 3.0 V6 is some serious mean machine.
Interior
Inside you’ll find a nice maintained interior with Grigio Velor upholstery and luxurious extras such as electric front windows and a Kenwood audio system including remote control. Meantime, the black dashboard is 100% no-nonsense, exactly what you would expect from an 80s Alfa. In short, the Italians couldn’t have drawn their 75 much sharper!
Technique & performance
The classic Romeo looks fast and it is fast, knowing that the 3.0 liter 6-cylinder is capable of doing great things in other 75 versions. It’s the same engine the QV had, having an output of 192 hp. That’s a lot more than the 155 horses from the 1.8 Turbo! Accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h only takes 7.5 seconds, while the top speed of 222 km/h is considerably higher than the 4-cylinder as well. Perhaps even more important is the sound: the Supersprint exhaust blasts like no other! Of all the 500 Alfa Romeo 75 Turbo Evoluzione production cars, number 501 is the one you want: without a turbo and with a V6… See you in Holland soon?
