We’ve had our eye on this magnificent Alfa Romeo 2000 GTV for quite some time! This stunning example — finished in a fiery color scheme, featuring the classic GTA look and a Nero interior — was originally delivered in Italy, but sold by us to a loyal Prins customer back in 2017. Needless to say, it was a very welcome reunion when this Gran Turismo Veloce found its way back to us…
History
Design legend Giorgetto Giugiaro is nothing short of a natural talent. The Alfa Romeo 105/115 Coupé — on which this GTV 2000 is based — was actually his first major project. He was commissioned by Bertone, the design house whose name became intertwined with the model designation of the so-called Alfa GTV “Bertone”. Together with Giugiaro, they created one of the most iconic cars ever made — unique, especially within its more accessible class. The GT Veloce, or simply GTV, is the most desirable of them all. And among those, the 2000 version is the one that truly sets every enthusiast’s heart racing. Apart from the rare GTA, this is undoubtedly the top model among the classic Alfa coupés.
Exterior
This particular example, finished in a breathtaking Rosso Alfa and presented in truly excellent condition, is simply irresistible to enthusiasts. The GTV is distinguished by its twin round headlights on each side. On the 2000 version, these are visually connected by an Alfaholics grille that extends elegantly to the Scudetto in the center. Chrome details, such as the door handles and the single round driver’s-side mirror, complete the classic look. The slender profile, angular front, large side windows, and gracefully sloping rear are all hallmarks of the Alfa 105/115 series. What a beauty!
We have given this car the desirable GTA look, including the correct wheels, sports exhaust, and Alfaholics grille.
Interior
A bright red body with a Nero interior — a dream specification for just about any Alfista who appreciates the brand’s historic class. Even the modern connoisseur will fall instantly for this perfectly balanced mix of sportiness and style. The large wooden three-spoke steering wheel, matching dashboard panels and center console, plus the wooden gear knob form the ultimate finishing touches. Two large round dials — the tachometer on the left and the speedometer on the right — gaze back at the driver, begging for their needles to come alive. Fuel tank full and temperature steady? Then it’s time to let this machine truly stretch its legs!
Engineering
The “Veloce” name lives up to its promise, with the 4-cylinder Twin Cam engine delivering more capacity and power — 2.0 liters and 132 hp, respectively. Paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox driving the rear wheels only, it offers all the right ingredients for a pure, sporty driving experience. The soundtrack is equally tuned for pleasure — iconic, addictive, and steeped in nostalgia. Exactly the kind of sound that will make the next lucky owner fall head over heels for this gorgeous Rosso Alfa.
Kind regards,
Team Prins
