Read moreAlfisti, we hope you’re ready for this kind of treasure: a classic Bertone masterpiece, called Alfa Romeo GTV 1750, having matching numbers and a great shape! In this combination, the Alfa is truly unique. In Rosso Alfa its even more desirable. But the fact that the interior, exterior plus the technique are recently restored, makes you feel like you want to visit the Netherlands right away. Luckily for you, we’re very much ready for you!
History
The 1750 engine knows exactly how to add some extra flavor to our nostalgic Alfa feelings. Equipped with Twin Cam technique, the famous and striking Alfa Romeo, designed by Bertone, literally gets an extra boost. The Gran Turismo Veloce version is by far the most wanted one among the coupes. Besides, its type designation says exactly what the Alfa Romeo 1750 GTV stands for. Dutch people fall for Italian charms. So it was only a matter of time before the GTV was brought to Holland. This happened in 2017 to be precise, giving specialist Berfelo the chance to make things perfect, from the inside, outside and underneath. The bodywork, but also the floor, seats and headliner got some extra love. In addition, the engine has been removed to complete the restoration. All images of the process are included!
Exterior
In the 1960s there were actually 2 types of Alfa Romeos: the graceful, round models designed by Pininfarina, and the sleek, sturdy creations by Bertone. The latter showed his unique skills by putting the Alfa GTV on paper, making himself responsible for the birth of a 2-door coupe legend. To many, this is THE Alfa Romeo from the early days. With its straight nose and angular lines the iconic 105/115 series happened to be as characteristic as it is timeless. The massive popular GTVwas given double round headlights on each side to make the difference. From the bright red Rosso Alfa paintwork to the beautifully contrasting chrome bumpers + window frames; the condition of this car is extraordinary!
Interior
The Nero leather interior is just as spot-on. Nowadays, the 2 round meters behind the 3-spoke steering wheel are still typical Alfa Romeo. The wooden dashboard and center console are super classy and the chrome details are stunningly beautiful. Even the radio is still completely original! The Alfa blood keeps running through our veins when we see the separate meters behind the high-positioned gear shifter, as well as the toggle switches above the gorgeous ashtray. It’s unbelievable how minimalistic and detailed the 1750 GTV cockpit is at the same time. The floor, seats and headliner have been renewed. There’s nothing to argue against that. After all, style and authenticity have not been compromised!
Technique & performance
Given the capacity of 1779 cc, Alfa Romeo could have made it easy for themselves by simply adding 1.8 to the GT. But 1750 sounds a lot more exciting, doesn’t it? Just as exciting as the technique behind it: in the GTV, the Twin Cam delivers 12 extra horses compared to the original GT Veloce, bringing the total output up to 120 hp. Thanks to the recent restoration, this version of it looks nice and fresh. And it certainly benefits the driving experience! Traditionally, all power is send to the rear axle, making it the pure driver’s car that Alfa Romeo is known for. The way the 1750 sounds and handles is absolutely mesmerizing. Something the true Alfist will appreciate forever. You don’t want to miss something this special now, do you?
Kind regards,
team Prins.
