Unieke uitvoering. Unieke historie. Unieke (concours)staat. Lees verder
Lancia Delta HF Integrale Evo I Rosso Monza
A unique car. With a unique history. And a unique (concours ready!) condition… There’s only one like this dazzlingly beautiful, 100% original (!) and perfectly maintained 1992 Lancia Delta HF Integrale Evo 1. So stunning. So fast. So fabulous. Despite its gorgeous condition, the all-time rally legend seems to come straight from the track, since it’s one of only 500 official homologation models. This means that the Rosso Monza Delta has a water spray unit to provide the intercooler with extra cooling and no catalytic converter. Sounds really cool, however, it makes us wonder: how on earth do you keep such an icon 30 years long so immaculate?
The original documents explain a lot: Lancia Bolzano registered the limited edition Integrale for the first time on January 31, 1992. Eventually, it was sold 2 years later, in 1993. After that, it came into the hands of an Italian family. Until recently, the Delta Evoluzione was treated and serviced with all the love and care in the world two generations long, by one and the same family. That’s exactly the way you should treat a 6-time Group A World Rally Champion! The HF Integrale and Evo I has won all of these constructors titles in a row between 1987 and 1992. A record that still isn’t broken.
The former owner deserve a standing ovation for keeping such an explosively fast hatchback almost brand new. It’s incredibly tempting to look for the limit every time you get behind the wheel of the rally icon, but every detail tells us that it has always been handled with velvet gloves. The Rosso Monza bodywork was repainted just once in all those years. Everything else is exactly as it was when it left the factory at the end of 1991. This includes the original windows, light units and electric sunroof. The straight lines, wide fenders, 15-inch lightweight wheels and big roof spoiler are typical HF Integrale. And we love it.
This may be a genuine rally champion, however, Lancia clearly wanted to give it the luxury of a gentlemen driver. Inside, the highly praised Delta distinguishes itself from other versions with excellent fitting sports seats, perforated aluminum sports pedals and beautiful Alcantara gray upholstery on the seats, doors and headlining. Beyond the beautiful finish, the overall condition is also absolutely brilliant. The HF Integrale Evoluzione may be a world rally car, but there was no hard working in this cockpit. In a positive sense.
Technique & performance
Those 6 world titles obviously aren’t achieved because of the looks. The unparalleled performance of the Evo 1 is for a huge part directly related to the power source: under the hood of the four-wheel drive Lancia Delta lies a 16-valve 2.0 liter turbo engine, producing 210 hp. Not only turned the technology out to be extremely fast, it’s reliable too – explaining the addition HF: an abbreviation for High Fidelity. The service history tells us that there’s no classic Integrale as solid as this particular one. From the inside, outside and underneath as well. Who wants to take full advantage of this in the near future?
