Prologue

Ferrari 365 GT4 2+2

The classic among the classy Ferrari’s: this extraordinary 365 GT4 2+2 (not to be confused with the 365 GT4/BB) is a blue V12 pearl and in excellent shape. The elegant 4-seater, originally delivered in Italy, has an impressive history and a powertrain that is at least as breathtaking. The sleek lacquer, neat interior, demonstrable maintenance history and very rare character (only 525 of them were built) make this classic Ferrari GT at the top of many enthusiasts’ and collectors’ wish lists. Maybe yours too?

History
In 1972, the 365 GT4 2+2 was presented in Paris as the successor to the 365 GT 2+2. The extra “4” in the model designation refers to the 4 overhead camshafts of the 12-cylinder engine, while the combination 365 links to the capacity per cylinder. Indirectly, the GT4 was also the successor to the GTC/4, which in turn replaced the famous 365 GTB/4 “Daytona” in 1971. However, just like the GT 2+2, the GT4 2+2 has more the character of a comfortable GT than a hardcore sports coupe. Over the years, our 2+2 Ferrari has evolved into the 400 GT and 412, which was produced until 1989. Only 525 of our specific version were made during the production period up to 1976.
The career of the V12-powered grand tourer on your screen started in Italy, after which a well-known Ferrari collector discovered the car at a trade fair back in 2016 and brought it to the Netherlands. The specialists of Italauto have taken over the service ever since. This also explains the perfect technical shape. Invoices are present, as well as the original instruction documents and warranty passport. A nice bonus is a photo of the car when it was still driving in Italy with matching license plates.

Exterior
No Ferrari color as classic as Blu Pozzi. On a chic 2+2-seater GT like this, the dark lacquer really comes into its own. What also helps is the beautiful overall condition of the bodywork. The 365 GT4 is easy to distinguish from its successors thanks to 3 instead of 2 round rear lights per side. The front bumper is a bit purer too, lacking spoilers and with fog lights hidden behind the chromed bars of the grille. What has always remained intact is the incredibly sharp design including pop-up headlights. Responsible for this and many other sleek style elements is the Italian master Leonardo Fioravanti, at the time employed by another legend: Pininfarina.

Interior & technique
Underneath, the Ferrari 365 GT4 2+2 is gorgeous as well: the 4.4 liter V12 has 6 Weber carburetors and is linked to a manual 5-speed gearbox. So it’s hard working inside this classic, just like the old days! Nothing wrong with showing some commitment while pushing all 340 horses from the mighty 12-cylinder to the limit, right? But please promise us you’ll also pay a little attention to the almost immaculate Beige leather interior, because it’s too beautiful not to look at… Behind the thin 3-spoke leather steering wheel (including contrast stitching) you’ll have a clear view on analog instruments that bring up nothing but nostalgic feelings. The luxurious interior with chromed ashtray, toggle switches and wooden finish in the very wide tunnel console is a place where the hard work never feels like work. Bring it on. We are ready for you.

Kind regards,
Prins Classics.
